 What is age rating?

In order to protect children from unsuitable and even harmful content in films the BBFC give the public information they might need about a particular film. This include age rating , genre , length who is suitable to watch the fil or if there is naything in the film that will cause harm to anyone who views the flm.  The BBFC examines and age rates films before they are realeased. The BBFC are a good guideline to a suitable film for anyone.

The BBFC look at issues such as discrimination, drugs, horror, dangerous and easily imitable behaviour, language, nudity, sex, and violence when making decisions.The more frequent these groups are in the film the higher the age rating meaning the film is only suitable for adults.

Because this film contains bloody violence, horror and threat, the age rating is 18. These topucs are too explict and strong for a child undre the age of 18 to view, tey aren't mature enough, this sguuests the age rating should be for adults only.


From the reasearch i have found that most thrillers are no less than 15 from the BBCF age rating system. This is becasue thrillers are meant to create tension and suspense, this is usually best executed when mature topics are used, this is typically becasue thrillers are menat to be serious. From the research i have found that both 'se7en' and american 'gangster' both are thrillers but have different
sub genres and are both 18. Thsi is because both contain strong violence and other themes deemed as to mature for persons under the age of 18.
